Helen Theresa (Fortin) Corbin, age 67, of Carrollton, TX passed away with her family by her side, on October 26, 2009, from complications related to her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Lock Haven, PA to the late Maurice "John" and Julia (Colford) Fortin. Helen was raised in Waterville and graduated from Mount Mercy in 1959. She continued her studies at Manchester Community College in CT. She touched the lives of many friends in her moves through Hartford, Chicago, and Cincinnati, before settling in a suburb of Dallas. She was the publisher of a local newspaper in Cincinnati before retiring in 1989.
She enjoyed participating in community theater musicals and reading; but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by Gerard Corbin, her devoted husband of nearly 46 years and her loving children, Susan Quintero, her husband Arthur and their children David and Corbin of Plano, TX and John Corbin of New York City. Her sisters: Eugenie "Genie" Fortin of Bridgton, ME, Bridget Dostie of Colchester, VT, Angela Loftus of Stratham, NH, Kathleen Bolduc and her husband David of Stowe, VT. She is also survived by her Mother-in-law, Gertrude Corbin of Waterville and brothers-in-law Norman Corbin of Waterville and Ronald Corbin of Augusta, as well as a host of loving family members and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3 at Notre Dame Church, 112 Silver Street in Waterville. A celebration of her life will follow.
