Heidi Michele Reed-Carroll, beloved mother, wife, daughter, and friend, passed away on Feb. 26, 2010 at age 48. After a three year long battle with cancer, the Lord finally ended her suffering; she died peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born on August 15, 1961 in Hammond, IN to Lonnie and Margareta Reed. She attended Donald E. Gavit High School—graduating 9th in her class. Constant perseverance and unsurpassed intelligence earned her a full scholarship to Purdue University. With unflinching optimism and a willingness to embrace progress, she was bound for success. A true multi-tasker, she married her high-school sweetheart, Kevin Dale Carroll, her junior year of college on July 24, 1982 and began to start her future family. Graduating with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, she went to work for Inland Steel and stayed a loyal employee for twelve years. In 1985, her family grew with her first son, Aaron and then the final addition came in 1991, with Laura. In an attempt to escape the harsh cold weather of Indiana, she started working for Sprint and moved with her family to Flower Mound, TX in the summer of 1998. Surrounded by loving neighbors and friends, she made a new niche for herself in her little "country" home. Consistently surrounded with brightness and love, she was a rare magnet—attracting friends, promotions, academic and professional success. Even through her difficult struggle with Breast Cancer, she remained a strong mother, supporter, and unwavering Christian. Her deceased father, Lonnie C. Reed, sister, Anita Reed Smith, and canine companion, Pfeffer, are with her in Heaven. Heidi is survived by her husband, Kevin; daughter, Laura Carroll; son, Aaron Carroll; mother, Margareta Reed; sister, Marisa Reed Keil and husband, David; mother-in-law, Elsie Carroll; sister-in-law, Janet Gasperson and her husband, Tommy; brothers-in-law, Bob Carroll and wife, Rosie, Joe Carroll, Jr. and Keith Carroll; and nephews and nieces, David Keil, Jr., Jerry Keil, Alaina Keil, Benjamin Robert Carroll, Cameron Joseph Carroll, Tommy Gasperson, Kelli Gasperson, Joseph Carroll, III, Vanessa Carroll, Jason Carroll, Jeff Carroll, Kari Carroll, Deanna Smith, Kattie Keil and Ashley Keil and loving friend Jesse Adams and extended family and loving friends.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, Texas. Interment will follow at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society.
