Obituary

Harvey D Lewis, 95, of Denton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in Carrollton, TX. He was born February 13, 1917 in Merkel, TX to Abner David and Corna Lassel (White) Lewis. He married his sweetheart, Lorene Underwood, on July 12, 1942 at her parents home in Ponder, TX. They were happily and devotedly married for sixty-five years.

Harvey served as a medic stationed in Lincoln, NE for the US Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged he worked as a carpenter in the Denton area all of his life, retiring from the carpentry shop at the University of North Texas. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Denton for over fifty years.

Mr. Lewis is survived by a daughter, Julie Speck & husband Steve of Denton, sons, Don Lewis & wife Doris of Fayetteville, AR, David Lewis, & wife Ann of Carrollton, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene, and one son, Ken.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, July 6, 2012 in the Cindy Nichols Chapel of the First Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Feeler, officiating. The family will greet family and friends in the Fellowship Hall from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service. Private burial will follow in the Jackson Cemetery in Krum, TX. Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home 705 N. Locust Denton is in charge of arrangements.
