Obituary

Harry Hancock Owen was born on January 20, 1926 in Fort Worth, Texas. He passed away on March 1, 2007 in Denton. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth in 1943. He then graduated from the Naval Hospital Corps School in San Diego, CA in April 1944. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II as Pharmacist's Mate, Second Class, in the Philippines and also served onboard a mine sweeper. He married the love of his life, Patricia Deane Harman, on December 10, 1944. They were married 50 years until she preceded him in death. Harry was President of Harman Electrical Construction Corporation until his retirement from the electrical business. He later served as Safety Director for Frozen Food Express, Inc. He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Harry was an excellent cook and entertainer and will be remembered by his friends and family for his abundant dinners, serving Aunt Sissye's Punch and drinks and providing warm hospitality to all who visited his home.

Harry is survived by his beloved dog, Catcher; a son, Kirk Owen and daughter-in-law, Melissa Owen of Allen; and his daughter Laurie Hunt and son-in-law Bob Hunt of Denton. His grandchildren are Keith Owen and wife Wendi of College Station, Jake Owen and wife Kristi and Katy McClaskey and husband Doug all of Allen, Daniel Owen of San Marcos and Kirk Willhoite and wife Amber of Espanola, N. M. Great-grandchildren are Cooper Owen, Emily Owen, Lauren Owen, Lindsay McClaskey, George McClaskey, Chevy Willhoite and Nolan Willhoite. In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to Our Daily Bread, % St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak St., Denton, TX 76201.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, March 5, 2007, in the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Steve Plunkett and Rev. Brandon Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
