G.V. (Sheep) Simpkins age 87 of Sherman formally of Argyle passed away Sunday March 1, 2009 at the Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman. G .V. was born October 31, 1921 in Argyle to James Thomas and Ida (Bays) Simpkins. He played basketball for the Denton high Broncos. He worked for Don Carter and Home Interiors before retiring to the family farm in Argyle. He was a faithful Christan, husband , father and grandfather. He was a member of the Howe Church of Christ. Hr was a 50 year Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. G.V. was a life time self employed Rancher in Denton county. He married his high school sweetheart Mary Jean Pierson June 15, 1940.

He is survived by his daughters Susan Catchings and husband Tom of Waco, Texas. Sandy Denney and husband Joe of Sherman, Texas  Grandchildren Kathy Powell and husband Ezra of Bryan, Texas. Abby and Zack Denney of Sherman, Texas. Great Grandson Ryan Motes of Carrollton, Texas. He preceded in death by his wife Jean in 2005 and granddaughter Suzanne Motes in 2008.

Funeral Services will be 3:00 pm Wednesday March 4, 2009 at Mulkey-Mason Chapel 705 N. Locust St. Denton, Texas 76201. Burial will follow at Old Alton Cemetery in Denton. Visitation will be 7 to8 pm Tuesday March 3, 2009 at the Funeral Home. Joe Denney and Tom Catchings will officiate the service.
