Obituary

Lt. Col. Gus E. Myers, 83 returned to his heavenly home, January 25, 2021. His devotion to family and his firm belief in God gave him peace. Gus was born August 16, 1937, to the late Harry and Mary Myers, a dentist, and school teacher respectively, in Windsor, Illinois.  Gus spent 4 years in the Navy then attended college at Eastern Illinois University and received a degree in Physics. Upon graduation, he joined the US Air Force and graduated from pilot training at Webb AFB, Big Spring, TX. After a tour in Viet Nam in 1966, he returned to attend the University of Arizona receiving a Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering with a teaching assignment to the US Air Force Academy. Gus retired from the Air Force in 1982. He accepted a position at the University of North Texas as Director of Risk Management Services where he remained until he retired in December 2005.

Gus is survived by his wife, Kathryn, his son Christopher and wife, Randi, daughters Heidi Collins and Stacey Paul, and husband Scott, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandsons.

The family gratefully declines flowers. Donations may be made to Denton Bible Church Missions Department.  Prayers, condolences, and memories are gladly accepted.

** Update: The memorial service has been postponed to a future date out of the family's love for others due to concerns of infecting attendees with Covid-19.
