Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 19 th at the Denton State School Cemetery, with James Rutledge, chaplain, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home.
Greg was born August 4, 1967, to the late Ronnie Lee and Geraldine Boyd Awtry in Wichita Falls. At the age of 7 Greg moved to the Denton State School. Professionals said that he would not live into his late teens. God gifted our family with some of the most incredibly compassionate and loving people, the wonderful caregivers for Greg. They truly helped him to thrive for the remainder of his life. Greg's influence on the lives of so many others continues to this day. In the 1970's, his father started the ARC of Wichita Falls Golf Tournament to raise funds to better the lives of those with disabilities. And brought Make-A-Wish to Wichita Falls. His mom was instrumental in starting the ministry for those with special needs at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his brother, John Awtry of Argyle; sister, Traci White and husband, David of Wichita Falls; nephew, Gregory White and his wife, Annie of Austin; nieces, Brooke Ouvarov-Bancalero and husband, Val of Scottsdale, Arizona and Kelsey Awtry of New Orleans; and his roommate for over thirty years, Calvin Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Memory of Greg Awtry to the Volunteer Services Council for DSSLC, P.O. Box 368, Denton, Texas 76202-0368
