Glennie K. Reed, born on February 21, 1919, passed away on December 15, 2006 due to complication of heart disease. Glennie was the daughter of Charles and Katie Austin, the 5th of 6 children born near the town of Joshua. Later the family moved to Denton where she attended high school and North Texas. While in Denton, she was employed by Moore Business Forms for a number of years. Later, upon completion of her BA at NTSU, she moved to Abilene, Tx. to start her teaching career and also earn her MBA at McMurray College. Glennie was a gifted teacher and made many good memories for her
"children" and co-teachers at Alta Vista Elementary. Her teaching career of 33 years was spent as a second grade teacher. She was able to visit these friends and neighbors the summer of 2004 – a wonderful reunion for all. She retired from teaching in 1987 and moved to Carrollton, Texas to be near her daughter and family. While in Carrollton, Glennie became active in her Sunday School class at First Baptist Church Carrollton. She was a member of the Live Wire Choir, and The Lamplighters. She also earned her 10 yr. badge as a hospital volunteer at Trinity Medical Center. Glennie enjoyed membership of a small china painting class in Farmers Branch. Her artistic talent in this craft was later honored every year with 1st, 2nd and 3rd ribbons at the State Fair. Her family is fortunate to have many of these beautiful reminders of her talents. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Glenna and Donald Sparkman, grandsons and spouses, Jeff and Shannon Jackson of Westlake, Scott and Mona Jackson, Arkadelphia, AR., Don and Tracey Sparkman of Roundrock, Kevin and Tracey Sparkman of Keller. Also numerous great-grandchildren: Josh, Noah, Lauren, Hannah, Seth and Kaitlyn Jackson. Jordan, Justin, Olivia, Brodie, Brock and Cord Sparkman. Michael and Scott Botellio and Anna Caroline Bischoff. Also her nieces and nephews who visited with her each time they were in the area. She is also survived by her sister, Iris A. McKinney of Waco, Texas. Glennie was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles F. Austin, II, Robert D. Austin and sisters Lorene Wells and Lena Ve James. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday,
December 18, 2006, at First Baptist Church in Carrollton. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to
8:00 p.m. Sunday at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.
