Dr. Glen L Taylor, 91, of Denton, died Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at his home in Denton.
Dr. Taylor was born on January 7, 1930 in Denton to G. Emery and Eunice (Gibson) Taylor. He was married to Artha Clair "Artie" Sweet on March 21, 1951 in Denton. Dr. Taylor's UNT career began as an undergraduate student in 1947. After receiving a doctorate in insurance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Taylor returned to UNT where he worked for forty-five years. His years of service included being a professor in the College of Business and Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs. He earned the professional credentials of CPCU (Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter), CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter), and ChFC (Chartered Financial Counselor). During his career, Dr. Taylor was a noted scholar, professor emeritus and dedicated teacher who prepared generations of students for the insurance industry. He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church where he served as an Ordained Elder.
He is survived by his wife Artie Taylor of Denton; son, Dr. Gary Taylor and his wife Doye of Denton; granddaughter, Missy Taylor of Gainesville; great-granddaughter, Emily Barnett of Abilene. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Cole.
