Obituary

Gilbert Lee Mills, age 85, residing in Corinth Texas, passed peacefully on April 13 th 2023. Born April 9th, 1938, to James D Mills and Olive I. Gilbert grew up in Havana, IL. With his 6 siblings.

Gilbert was a Godly man, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He married his wife, Linda Ann Mills the 17th of July 1968, she survives. He has seven beautiful children, twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, and teaching his children how to bowl. He also coached their little league teams.

Gilbert made many friends working construction, and at Caterpillar Logistics warehouse, where he retired June 2003. He was that person that once you met him, he was unforgettable. Whether you remember him from the quirky jokes he told or the proud way he would talk about his family. He served in the Air Force and was a member of the American Legion.

In his spare time he loved to participate in bowling where he was in many leagues, watch Western shows, play bingo, go fishing, and he loved horse racing. Gilbert was an avid Bears and Cubs fan, you could find him home on game days in his favorite chair routing on his favorite team! His wife Linda said he was a great roller skater and that is where their love story began 55 years ago.

He is preceded in death by his mother Olive Ira Davis, father James Daniel Mills. His son John James Mills, his siblings Jenny Mills Mohr, Jim (Bub) Mills, Dale Mills, and Larry Mills, and two great granddaughters.

He is survived by, Daughter Jackie Mills Champaign Il. and Her children Stephen and Melissa. His Son Jeff Mills ( Kitty)Ukiah Ca. Daughter Tina Mills Willits, Ca. and her children Christopher, Kevin, Cassaundra, and Kiley. Daughter Tammy Andrews (Jack) Tilton Il and children Tanya and Trista. Theresa Ream, (Greg) The Colony, Tx. and her son Derek. His Daughter Julie Wagner (Barre) Mansfield, Il. and her children Shelby, Brette, and Kenyon.

Gilbert is also survived by his sister Cindy Case Lewiston, Il and Brother Kenny Mills of Havana Il.

Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday April 19th at 2:00 pm, at First Denton Baptist Church 1100 Malone St Denton, TX 76201.
