Geraldine "Geri" Joann Layne, 82, of Denton, died Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at home in Denton surrounded by her family . Mrs. Layne was born on November 2, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to Frank D. and Berniece (Loveland) Cronin. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. Geri is survived by her daughter, Margaret Toth of Dumfries, VA and by sons, Ted and Tony Layne of Denton, TX; grandchildren Charlene (Layne) Dill, Rachel Layne, Rebecca (Layne) Hurley and David, Colin, and Aidan Toth; as well as 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Kathleen (Cronin) White and by her brothers Joseph, Paul, and John Cronin. Geri is preceded in death by her son Robert Edward Layne, her parents, her sister Patricia (Cronin) Walker, and granddaughter Sarah Layne. Geri was a devoted Catholic woman whose faith nurtured her through times of great joy and great sorrow. Geri was dearly loved by scores of family, dear friends, and fellow Sweet Adeline members with whom she sang for more than 20 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association at https://www.diabetes.org/donate A Rosary and Remembrance will be held at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home at 7:00 PM Friday, August 16. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am Saturday, August 17th at St. Mark Catholic Church, 6500 Crawford Rd, Argyle, TX 76226. A reception and luncheon will be held at the Parish Activities Center immediately following Mass.
