Obituary

Geraldine Moore Crawford was born on December 25, 1910 and passed away on February 16, 2007 at the age of 96.

Mrs. Crawford was the first of four children born to Charles H. and Eula Moore. She was a 1927 graduate of Lewisville High School. She attended North Texas State Teachers College
(University of North Texas).

She was preceded in death by her husband W.D. "Bill" Crawford, her daughter, Patsy Wiley and her grandson Patrick Wiley. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Alvin Moore and her sister, Helen Hasten.

She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Fleming and her husband, Leon of San Antonio, Texas; her sons, Don Crawford of Lewisville, Texas and Charles Crawford and wife, Maureen of Corpus Christi, Texas. Other survivors are her granddaughters, Amy Crawford of Valley View, Texas, Sonia Amthor and husband, Steven of Corpus Christi, Texas and Susan Wiley of Missoula, Montana and grandson Peter Crawford of Corpus Christi, Texas. Also surviving are great granddaughters, Caitlynn Mitchell and Rhyanne Amthor and great grandson, Ryan Thomas Amthor all of Corpus Christi. She is also survived by her sister, Tommye Alcoze of Lewisville, Texas and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Crawford was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewisville, Texas. Through the years she was a Sunday School teacher and an active member of Presbyterian Women. She also served as a church elder.

An avid reader Mrs. Crawford was instrumental in helping to set up the first lending library in Lewisville. She served as a member of the library board from 1980-1989. A meeting room in the present library was named in her honor. She was recognized by the Lewisville City Council in September 1992 for her dedication in inspiring the community to establish a public library for the benefit of generations of readers.

Mrs. Crawford was a member of the board which first implemented a plan to create the Lewisville Christian Community Action organization to help underprivileged citizens of the community.

Funeral services were held at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home on Monday, February 19, 2007. Dr. Thomas J. Baughman officiated the service. Interment followed at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Crawford's honor to the Lewisville Public Library, the memorial fund of First Presbyterian Church of Lewisville, Texas or the Christian Community Action organization in Lewisville, Texas.
