Gerald Maurice Schnorr, 80, of Dallas passed away on Monday May 3, 2010 at Madison Rehabilitation Center, following a stroke. He was born January 28, 1930 in Palestine, TX to Adam M. and Blossom (Williamson) Schnorr. He married Betty Merrell on November 28, 1953 at Cochran Chapel Methodist Church in Dallas where they both have been members for many years.

After graduating from North Texas State College (UNT), Maurice went to work as a Juvenile Probation Officer for Dallas County. He later became a Case Worker for the Dallas County Boys Home in Hutchins and eventually became the Superintendent of the Boys Home. After retiring from the County, his next career took him on travels throughout the South representing various companies selling welding supplies and equipment. He retired from Welder's Supply of Dallas. Maurice and Betty spent many happy hours throughout their marriage traveling and spending time together fishing. He also was a dog owner who was very rarely without one of his well trained companions.

Maurice is survived by his wife, Betty, of Dallas, sister and brother in law, Joyce and Buster Wilson of Lindale, sister in law, Margaret Jane Hamilton of Denton and several nieces and nephews including Jeff and Janet Hamilton of Orange, TX, Gay and Lynne Leake of Denton and several great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010 in the Cochran Chapel United Methodist Church, 9027 Midway Rd. Dallas, TX 75209 with Rev. Joseph Stabile officiating. Burial will follow at Merrell Cemetery, 4000 Merrell Road, Dallas, TX. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., before the service. Memorials may be made to an organization of your choice.
