Georgia Ann May Shaver, age 93, of Denton, Texas passed away August 4, 2024, in Denton. Georgia was the daughter of John David May and Lockett Mae Perry May. She was born on December 12, 1930, in Houston, Texas.

She grew up in Houston and married Charles Childers Shaver, Jr., on February 9, 1952. They made their home in Houston and were married 51 years before he passed away in 2003. After raising her family, she and her longtime neighbor and friend co-owned and managed the Sunset Tea Room in Houston, which was one of her greatest joys.

She and Charles moved to Denton, Texas in 1999 to be closer to her grandchildren, whom she enjoyed hosting in her home for holidays and family gatherings. She was a lifelong Baptist and had attended First Baptist Church in Krum, Texas.

Georgia is survived by her children; Charles Childers Shaver, III of Austin, Texas, Cheryl Carsten and husband Troy of Krum, Texas, Nancy Kress of Denton, Texas, David Lloyd Shaver and wife Karima of Windham, Maine; her grandchildren Nathan Carsten and wife Kristin, Nancy Carsten, Nicholas Carsten and wife Brooke, Danielle Kress, Rachel Kress, George Kress, and five great grandchildren.

She will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park with her husband. The family will be having a private memorial service.
