Georgia May Young Coffin "Joy", age 89, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015, in Denton, Texas. She was born on May 21, 1925 in Denison, Texas to George and Zola May Young. She married J.D. Coffin on December 24, 1942 in Denison, Texas. They moved to Denton in 1965. She worked for Grace Temple Baptist Church from 1965-1969 as a secretary. She then went to work for Henry Shoopman Insurance Agency from 1969-1971. She then returned to Grace Temple Baptist Church and remained working there until she retired in 1973.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, J.D. Coffin, 1 son, Larry Coffin, 5 Grandchildren, Kimberly Dill, Kellye King, Casey Fry, Jeff Coffin, and Carrie Takes, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Betty Bond and Shirley Krevics. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Danny Coffin and Darrell Coffin, 1 great-grandson, Bryson Dill, and 2 sisters, Margaret Lewis and Marie Johns.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, Texas, 76201, at 1:00. Graveside service will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, Texas, 75090. Visitation will be Monday, April 20, 2015 from 6-8 at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home.
