Obituary

George Edward Wing, Jr was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma on June 26, 1932 to parents George Edward Wing and Vera Valena Crites Wing. He was one of eight siblings, all of whom preceded him in death: Lester, Marie, Leonard, Evelyn, Mildred, Vera and Clarence. After he graduated high school in Strong City, Oklahoma, George worked on the farm with his dad and shortly after married Janada Wilson of Hammon, OK on May 21, 1950. They moved to Perryton, TX where they started their family with daughters Lynette and Janise. To support his wife and two young daughters, George worked on his sister's farm and also at a local service station.

After getting a job with Cabot Carbon Black in Pampa, the Wing family moved to Pampa, TX where Lazetta and Tommy were born. Later, George worked at a cement company and began studying electronics repair. Soon he started his own repair business and installation of antennas. This graduated from a homebased business into a larger business where he was able to have a storefront selling TVs. He gradually extended his business to Elk City, OK, where they lived before moving on to Altus, where he operated an electronics store. Later, the Wings would move to Sherman, Fort Worth, Garland and finally to Denton to be close to their children.

George and his family were active members at Central Baptist Church in Pampa for over 20 years where he taught Sunday School and ran the sound system for the worship service. As they moved from place to place, the Wings moved their memberships to the local Baptist churches wherever they were residing. Being a part of a body of Christ was very important to George, for he loved the Lord with all his heart and reflected that in his love for others.

George was preceded in death by his loving wife Janada on June 6, 2019. They were reunited in his passing on July 31, 2019. He is survived by his three daughters, Vera Lynette Bryan, Janise Rae Larsen, Lazetta Sue Wing and son Tommy Earl Wing. George was known as "Papa" to 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson to be born this August. He will be greatly missed, but his memories will live forever in our hearts and minds because of the wonderful and fun person he was.

2 Timothy 4: 7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.
