George John Ley, 62 of Flower Mound passed away Monday, January 12, after a short illness.
John was born October2, 1946 in Whittier, California to Joan and George W. Ley.
As a member of the Four Corps Mike Force-A Team, Special Forces ( Green Beret ). John served his country in Vietnam as a Special Forces Medic with valor, honor, and distinction. John earned two Bronze Stars for heroism in combat and a third Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground combat operations. He was also awarded two Purple Hearts for wounds received while conducting operations on Nui Coto Mountian during the Tet Offensive in 1968.
After the war he earned a biology degree from California State University, Fullerton.
John lived in the Fort Worth area for many years and retired from American Airlines after a twenty-year career.
John was a beloved husband and father. He is survived by his adoring wife Amy Baxter Ley, mother Joan Ley, sister Carol Ley, and sons Eric, Sean, Ryan, and niece Megan.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 15, at 10:30 AM at Argyle United Methodist Church, 308 Denton St., Argyle, TX 76226. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the memorial service.
the family requests donations in John's memory be sent to Cambodia Corps Inc., c/o Tommy Daniels, 915 Goebel Ave., Savannah, GA 31404. This organization provides aids to the Montenyard people of Cambodia.
John's great joys in life were his family, friends, gardening, and his church. John will always be remembered and loved by all who knew him for his strength of character and wonderful sense of humor.
