Gene Allen Laster, age 74 of Richardson, passed away suddenly Saturday, June 18, 2005 in Kearney, Nebraska while visiting his grandson. Gene was born July 3, 1930 in Gainesville , Texas to A. L. and Grace (Bradshaw) Laster. He attended Gainesville Public School and one year at Gainesville Junior College prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served over three years during the Korean Conflict.
He attended North Texas State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in math and physics. Gene married Martha Goodman of Denton December 18, 1953. He was employed at Texas Instruments Inc. for 33 years, retiring in 1989, to catch up on his fishing.
Gene was also an elder in the Presbyterian Church, and avid fisherman and gardener, a loving husband and doting grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 51 and one-half years, his son and daughter-in-love, Jim and Tami Laster of Sachse. His daughter, Luci French of Richardson. Four beloved grandsons, Blaine French of Kearney, Nebraska, Jessica, Jimmy and Jana Laster, of Sachse. Other survivors include Frankie Laster, sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Service will be 1:00 pm Friday June 24, 2005 at the Mulkey-Mason Chapel. Memorials maybe made to Presbyterian Children's Home, Presbyterian Village or Cal Farley's Boy's Ranch, or Charity of Choice.
