Gayla Yvonne Meritt
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gayla Meritt —a woman whose life was a testament to resilience and faith. Gayla was a blessing to her family and friends for 73 years until on the morning of April 21, 2025 at 5:42 am, she was united with her Creator and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Gayla was born on October 1, 1951 in Fort Worth Texas, forming the second link in a circle of seven, forging a truly unique lifelong bond unbreakable even in death. Her selfless love of family was also evident in the loving hand she had in raising her 5 nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered as a devoted Christian, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend as well as her flare for baking and thoughtfully penned Hallmark cards.
Gayla is preceded in death by her parents Bobby Joe and Juanita Meritt and her sister Sandy Arce. She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law: Vaunda and Rick Chapman, Jody Meritt, Becky Meritt and Mike Fournier, and Carrie Meritt; her brother and sister-in-law Xernie and Wendy Meritt, and her many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
