Gary Cecil Johnston, long time resident
of The Colony, Texas, left this earth to be with our Lord and Saviour on
Wednesday, February 6, 2008, in Fort Worth at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with cancer and complications following surgery.
He was born November 27, 1942 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Cecil Hugh Johnston and Edna McElroy Johnston.
Gary married Darlene K. Haakensen on October 12, 1979 in Dallas.
Gary was raised in Gardendale, Alabama and moved to California at the age of 19, where he began his 40 year career in the aluminum extrusion business. Throughout the years his work took him to various parts of the country, his last position being with Western Extrusions in Carrollton, Tx for about 18 years.
Gary will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and a generous person who was always willing to help a friend in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Gary is survived by his dearly loved wife of 28 years, Darlene; two beloved children, beautiful daughter, Allison Chilianis and her husband, John, of Fremont, California; and treasured son, Trent Johnston of The Colony; two precious granddaughters,
Alisha and Katherine Chilianis of Fremont, California; his highly-respected
step-father, Reverend C. S. Prince of Traffort, Alabama; dear sister, Sandra Burns of Ashville, Alabama; dear brother, Randy Hilliard of Opelika, Alabama,
his loving in-laws Fred and Shirley Haakensen of Carlton, Minnesota, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and long-time friends.
Funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Private interment will follow at Little Elm Cemetery at a later date. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at
