Freddie Marsh, 76, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at The Vintage after a brief battle with cancer.
Born Freddie Dean Marsh on November 28, 1939 to Dencil Otis and Lois Geraldine (Henson) Marsh in Pritchett, Texas. After graduating from Gladewater High School in 1957, he attended Kilgore Junior College before joining the Air Force in 1961. He spent most of his military service at Vandenberg AFB, in California and was discharged in 1963.
Following his military service, he returned to Texas to attend college. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1967 and from from Bates College of Law in 1970. Fred then began a 45 year legal career, serving Texas as an assistant prosecutor in Harris, Hildago, and Denton counties. In Denton, he became the Chief Felony Prosecutor (for 12 years) before leaving to become a defense attorney.
Denton was also where he met and married his wife of 37 years, Sandra (Smith) Marsh.
In private practice, Fred started as a general practice attorney, but eventually specialized in criminal defense. At the time of his death, he was a partner at Marsh, Paine & Nolter, PC. He was also very active in Singing Oaks Church of Christ where he taught Sunday Bible Classes.
Fred leaves his beloved wife, Sandra; sister-in-law Narcene Marsh; nephew Ronnie (Darnell) Marsh; two nieces, Debbie (Jessie) Robertson and Donna (Denvil) Allen; two great nephews and four great nieces; two great, great nieces, and a multitude of cousins and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his brothers, Dencil and Thomas.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 24 from 6-8pm at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home and services will be held Monday, April 25 at 11am at Singing Oaks Church of Christ,, both of which are in Denton, Texas. Interment will be immediately following the services in a family plot at Gribble Springs Cemetery in Denton County.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to The American Cancer Society or to World Bible School at Singing Oaks Church of Christ.
