Franklin Paul Smith passed away peacefully at Presbyterian Hospital, Denton, Texas on March 16, 2016 at the age of 81.
Franklin is predeceased by his loving parents, William Ivy and Lucile Smith, brother Robert Smith and brother Charles Smith and his first wife of 30 years, Sarah Smith.
Franklin is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Smith of 22 years. They were married in Dallas, Texas on March 20, 1993.
Franklin is lovingly remembered by his two sons, Paul Smith and wife Jodena of Cedar Park, Texas; Kirk Smith and wife Carla of Argyle, Texas; his two stepchildren, Deborah Wood and fiancé Mike Humbert of Addison, TX; Michael Wood of Plano, TX; his 10 Grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, and William Smith of Cedar Park, TX.; Jordan Smith of Lewisville, TX; Skii, Coree, Alexis, Terry, Josh and Serenity Smith of Argyle, TX; his brother, William Smith and wife Pearl of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law Mary Smith of St Mary's, GA; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Franklin was born in Neeces, South Carolina on September 7, 1934. He graduated from Allendale High School, Fairfax, South Carolina in 1952 and went on to Georgia Tech to major in Civil Engineering. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1954 based out of Fort Lee, Virginia. Following his discharge out of the Army, Franklin spent many years in the Insurance Industry, was a successful entrepreneur and spent the last 25 years of his career in Advertising and Marketing.
Franklin was an Army Veteran, a Deacon, a Mason, a Shriner; an Entrepreneur, a husband, a father, and brother. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, watching the grandchildren's sporting events; he loved adventures and serving others. Franklin's constant passion was his envolvement with the Baptist church, serving on countless committees and his passion for serving others and leading as an example.
The visitation will be held at Mulkey- Mason Funeral Home on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 4-6pm.
The Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Argyle, Texas, on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 2pm with Pastor Brad Elsom officiating.
Private burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
