Obituary

Frank James Brown, 68, of Argyle, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 13 th , 2023 in his home.  He was born on July 14, 1954 in Phoenix, Arizona to Francis James Brown Jr. and Anna Martha Vlacil.  He had one brother, Fred Alan Brown.

Frank was raised in Phoenix by a loving mother as his father was absent for most of his formative years, so he learned to work hard at a young age.  He began a paper route at the age 12, worked with two different construction companies, and also worked bussing tables at the Elks Lodge restaurant all before he graduated from high school.  He also had several wonderful men in his church who mentored him and took him under their wing to have him work odd jobs at their homes during this time.  He was very appreciative, and would never forget their love and support for him.  He also became an Eagle Scout at age 14 after being supported by his mom and many wonderful Scout leaders who became such an inspiring force in his life.  Frank had many interests.  He learned to golf and to surf at a young age.  As he got into his latter teen years, he would take trips with his friends to go to California to go surfing.  He also loved baseball, football, wrestling, fishing and even played trumpet in the grade school band.  After he graduated from high school, he decided he wanted to serve a Church mission and ended up being called to serve in the Gulf States Mission.  He loved his service and worked hard serving the Lord for two years at this time.  When he returned, he continued his college years, and finished graduating from A.S.U. with a Business degree.  In the meantime, he met and married his eternal companion Jennifer Welker in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1978.

Frank wanted to be an attorney and so he went on to law school and ended up graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1981.  He ended up passing the bar exam in Arizona and Texas and got his LLM in Tax Law which brought him to Texas and SMU.  He had different places of employment out of college but ended primarily working as a Dental Broker with Watson, Brown, and Associates the latter part of his life.

Frank LOVED his family!  He loved spending time with them and planning activities to be able to gather together with them in so many memorable ways.  He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend to so many.  He also loved the scriptures and serving in the Lord's Church as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served with the youth in many different capacities including as a Young Men's leader, Scoutmaster (He took young men to Philmont 5 different times) Primary teacher and Nursery leader with his wife Jennifer.  He also served in other callings in the Church including Bishoprics, as an Elder's Quorum leader, Ward Mission leader and much more. He also served in the Dallas Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints two different times.  The latter time he served with his wife Jennifer until his health did not permit him to continue.   He loved the Lord and blessed many by his service.

Frank is preceded in death by his mother and father, and is survived by his brother Fred Brown.  He is also survived by his wife Jennifer, his five children Jeremy (Audrey), Rebecca (Nick), Elizabeth (Clint), Diana (Scott), and Ben.  He has eighteen grandchildren who adore him.  Frank will be sorely missed and the Brown family will never be the same without his beautiful smile and his contagious laugh and generous spirit.
