Francis M. "Bud" Myers, Jr., 92, of Denton, died on Saturday May 26, 2012 at Willow Bend Assisted Living and Memory Care Center in Denton.
Bud was born on April 1, 1920 in Gary, Indiana to Francis Marion and Agnes (Lauder) Myers. He was a survivor of the New London School Explosion. He served in the United States Marines during WWII and Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was married to Maxine Malone on January 3, 1947 in Henderson, TX. He was a member of the Green Valley Baptist Church; Veterans of Foreign War; Disabled American Veterans; Masonic Lodge #217, and was a volunteer at the Denton County Courthouse on the Square. He was retired from the Denton Independent School District where he was a painter and custodian.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home 705 N. Locust Denton. A funeral service will be held at Green Valley Baptist Church at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Rev. Ronnie Allen and Rev. Robert Myers will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Cooper Creek Cemetery.
Bud is survived by his wife, Maxine Myers of Denton; daughters, Barbara Hall and husband Bobby of New Castle, Sherry Mulkey and husband Joe of Aubrey; sisters, Mary Ann Wahoff of Aledo, Mae Bell Elrod of Overton, Florence Jacob of Decatur, GA; brothers, David Myers of Henderson, Robert Myers of Crownsville, MD; grandchildren, Judi, Barri, Crystal, Johnny, Marion, Phillip, Edward, Patricia, Michelle; great-grandchildren, Sam, Kaitlyn, Penelope, Leo, Brandi, Johnny, Joey, Chyenne, Kyla, Dakota, Michela, DeEllen; one great great-granddaughter; Chenille. He was preceded in death by daughters, Saleta Ann Miller and Mary Marie Myers and sisters, Shirley and Marjorie Myers..
