Frances A. Ashby, 92, of Denton, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011 at her home. She was born February 12, 1919 in Denton County, TX to Arthur L. and Minnie Lee (Pryor) Vaughn. She was married to George Ashby in 1937 in Denton, and he died May 4, 1988. She was a cook at Robert E. Lee Elementary School. She was a member of Rebekah Lodges #241 and #18; I.O.O.F. Lodge #82 and the Highland Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ashby is survived by three sons, Bill Ashby and his wife Carla of Naples, FL, Charles Ashby and his wife Katie of Southlake, TX and Harold Ashby and his Michelle of Abilene, TX; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Ashby.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday April 6, 2011 at Highland Baptist Church, with Rev. Eddie Schafer officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Cemetery in Denton County. The family will be the Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton on Tuesday March 5 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM for visitation.
