Fern LaVerl (Papa) Fletcher, 83 of Denton, TX passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012. He was born November 2, 1928 in Lubbock, TX to Lester Spurgeon and Addie Arvella (Bowley) Fletcher. He was married to Virginia Taylor on February 22, 1951 in Tahlequah, OK. He served in the US Army as a Military Police Officer and was a carpenter.
Mr. Fletcher is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Fletcher of Denton, TX; children Wayne Fletcher of Denton, TX, Marsha Taylor of Denton, TX, Dan Fletcher and wife Clarice of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Clarissa Rowell and husband Brandon of Rowlett, TX, Raebecca Powell and husband Jeremy of Arlington, TX, Austin Taylor of Denton, TX; great granddaughter Shade Eisley Kate Powell.
Mr. Fletcher is also survived by his sister Anna Loy Barbre of Fort Worth, TX, and brothers, Doyle Fletcher and wife Maxine in Henrietta, OK, Tom Fletcher and wife Carol of Valley View, TX, Dewayne Fletcher and wife Barbara of Highland Ranch, CO, Jerry Fletcher and wife Margary of Fort Worth, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, May 10, 2012 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX with Rev. Randy Snow officiating. Graveside service will be at 2 P.M. Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Tahlequah City Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK. The family will be at Mulky-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at 1 P.M. for visitation.
