Obituary

Fermin Trevino Jr., 74, of Krum passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 27, 2015. Fermin was born in San Diego, TX on March 16, 1941, the son of Fermin Trevino Sr. and Santos (Rangel) Trevino. He served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard. Fermin retired after 30 years of service as a police officer for the University of North Texas. He retired from his second career six years later from the Denton County Sheriff's Department, as a courtroom bailiff. He was a member of Krum First United Methodist Church and member of the American Legion and VFW. Fermin married Jane Barthold in Marietta, Ok on September 30, 1964.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jane (Barthold) Trevino of Krum and his daughter Kathy (Trevino) Bersi of Denton; sister Ramona (Trevino) Pitrey and husband John of Port Arthur, TX; brothers Noe Trevino and wife Rosie of Harlingen, TX; Fernando Trevino and wife Elva of San Diego, TX, and Ignacio Trevino and wife Mindy of Corpus Christi, TX; 3 grandchildren, Matthew Bersi and wife Breann of New Haven, CT, Erin (Bersi) and husband Joe Jones of Denton, TX and Mallory Bersi of College Station, TX and 1 great grandchild, Nolan Jones. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N Locust, Denton, TX on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 6pm - 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Kirsch of Krum United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Jackson Cemetery in Krum, TX.

The family wishes to thank Texas Oncology in Denton for the treatment they gave to Fermin, especially Drs Sharad Jain and Jeffrey Morton and their staff. Also, Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Denton for the special care provided during the last months of his life.
