Obituary

Faye Fritz, 67 of Denton, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.

A memorial and celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, December 8th at 2pm at Cooper Creek Baptist Church. Officiating the Service will be Dr. Rick Montgomery. Visitation will be held at the church at 1pm one hour prior to the service.

Faye was born on July 12th 1943 to Joseph Eldon and LaVon Smith in Beaumont, TX. She lived with her parents and two sisters, Fran and Letha in the Yellowpine/Hemphill area of East Texas. The family settled in Newport, Delaware where Faye completed High School at Henry J. Conrad Senior High School in Wilmington, Delaware. She went on to become a Certified Histology Technician at Wilmington General Hospital. While in Delaware she was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church. She married William Edward Fritz Jr. at Bethany Baptist Church on May 18th, 1963. Soon after Bill and Faye moved to Queens, NY and then to Port Jefferson Station, Long Island where they raised two sons, William Edward Fritz, III and Joseph Eric Fritz. Faye was a founding member of Grace Baptist Church in Lake Grove, Long Island and was active in the PTA, Little League, and all things concerning her boys. In 1991, Faye moved to Columbia, SC following a divorce where she worked at Columbia Baptist Hospital and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Columbia. In 2001, Faye moved to Denton, TX to be closer to her son, Joe, his wife Laurel, and their baby boy, Joseph. During her time in Denton, Faye became an active member of Cooper Creek Baptist Church and worked for Ameripath and Quest labs as a Certified Histology Technician. She retired From Quest in July of 2010 to help in her son's insurance business and to help take care of her grandsons after school.

She is survived by her sons Will Fritz of Elkin, NC and Joe Fritz of Denton, sisters Fran Miller of Pedricktown, NJ and Letha Paysuer of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren Daniel and Erin Fritz and Joseph and Jacob Fritz; three nieces, and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her mother, LaVon Smith and father, Joseph Eldon Smith.
