Obituary

Faye E. Altstadt departed this life on July 23, 2025, passing peacefully in the presence of family and friends, after a fulfilled journey of 84 years.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on February 12, 1941, Faye was raised in Frederick, MD, by her parents Willard and Mildred Gordon. She was one of four children and was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Danny Gordon and Willard "Bubby" Gordon, and her son Travis Miller of Colorado Springs, CO.

Faye spent much of her professional life working for Northwestern Bell in Omaha, NE, where she retired after a long and dedicated career. Even in retirement, she stayed active with part-time work and her volunteer activities.  Faye moved to the Tampa, Florida, area in the early 2000s, where she continued to build friendships and contribute to her community.

Her years in Florida were among her happiest—filled with volunteer work, the fellowship of her church family at Mariner Methodist Church, and an active social life through Stage West. Faye loved being around others and found joy in the simple things: volunteering, playing cards, shopping, and sharing meals with friends. She also had a special affection for animals, especially her cat Eve, who was her cherished companion for 19 years.

Faye had a generous and compassionate spirit. She believed in helping others, loved children deeply, and found her greatest joy in time spent with family and friends. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren were the lights of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to dote on them.

She is survived by her sister Janice Cole of Maryland; her daughters Rhonda Babin and husband Curtis of Ponder, Texas, and Karen Roth and husband Richard of Holcomb, Kansas; and her dear friend Shirley Colvin of Spring Hill, Florida, whom she loved like a sister. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Ryan of Wichita, KS; Regan of Kansas City, KS; Rebecca of Overland Park, KS;  Kyle and Kelly of Jupiter, FL; Ashley of Ponder, TX; Brennan and Emerson of Watauga, TX; Kyra and Aaron of Fort Worth, TX; and Cody and Teresa of Ponder, TX. Faye was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family who held a special place in her heart.

Faye was cremated, and arrangements are being handled by Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home in Denton, TX. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Immediate family members may be contacted for additional details.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to your local animal shelter or humane society, in honor of Faye's love for animals and her kind, giving nature.
