Evelyn (Simek) Stengel 89, of Denton, TX passed away peacefully on May 28, 2012. Evelyn was born in Bomarton, TX. She graduated high school in Seymour, TX. where she helped raise her siblings after the death of her parents in 1943. She is survived by her brother, Alvin Simek, and her two sisters, Estelle Heinrich and Charline Gajdos.
She was married to Gerald Stengel, husband of 35 years, until he passed in 1981. She was a loving and devoted mother survived by her six children: Sidney, Dennis, Jerry, Randy, Karen, Patti; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Evelyn was dedicated to her Catholic faith and spent many hours caring for the elderly, and volunteering in church activities. Evelyn was well known for her home-made cinnamon rolls. She appreciated her Czech heritage and celebrated with music and dancing. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 31 from 6-7:30pm at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Denton TX. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11:00am at the Immaculate Conception chapel in Denton, TX. Grave side services will be 12:00 noon Saturday June 2, at Bomarton Cemetery, Bomarton , TX .
