Evelyn B. McAdow, 87, of Denton, Texas, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Senior Care Health Center in Denton. Evelyn Delores Bartels was born in Greenville, Illinois, February 21, 1923, to Otto and Mary Bartels. She married Maurice McAdow July 15, 1941. The McAdows were married 60 years. He preceded her in death August 20, 2001.
Mrs. McAdow was the Valedictorian of Greenville High School, Greenville, Illinois, and a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of North Texas. Mrs. McAdow was a 65 year member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church where she both served as a Deacon and sang in the choir for many years. She was a foreign language instructor of both French and Spanish at the University of North Texas. Mrs. McAdow was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Evelyn McAdow will be held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak Street, Denton, TX, Monday, May 10, 2010 at 3:00pm, the Reverend Steve Plunkett officiating. A private family burial will precede the service at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton. A visitation will be held at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX, Sunday evening, May 9, 2010, 6:30-8:00pm. The McAdow family wishes to thank life long friends and neighbors - the Lane, Naugher, and Vann families.
Mrs. McAdow is survived by her son, Scott, of Houston; granddaughter Allison, of Ft. Worth; grandson, Blake, of Austin, and sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Henry Malench of Edwardsville, Illinois.
