Obituary

Our Mother, Evelyn May Hughes was born September 19, 1926 to William and Jane Hughes in Liverpool England. Evelyn was the 3rd child out of a total of three sons and four daughters. Raised in prewar England, Evelyn had a childhood that wouldn't be familiar to most of us. As a preteen, Evelyn was a graceful and talented young lady and was recruited as a contortionist and acrobat in an English touring company where she and others performed in fairs and events throughout England. While she later said this was a difficult and lonely period in her life she was glad that her wages helped out her family.

Later in her teens, Evelyn "fibbed" about her age to join the A.T.S., the women's branch of the British Army during World War II, spending time in Europe supporting the troops as the war came to a close. Evelyn was a very pretty lady and had her share of suitors but luckily for her children she met a wild air force yank on a blind date and fell in love. Evelyn moved to the United States where she got married, raised a family and eventually became a naturalized citizen.

Evelyn developed a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and always went out of her way to share his love going on to serve for several years as a Prayer Minister with Robert Tilton Ministries. Evelyn was strong in the Lord and sweet in spirit.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Anthony (Tony) Bustamante, who she always called "Chief". She is survived by a brother, William Hughes of Liverpool England as well as 1 daughter, 3 sons, 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a large extended family in England. Evelyn lived in the Lewisville area for over 32 years and if you met her you would remember her as that sweet English lady that always left you with a smile. Evelyn passed away surrounded by a family that will always love her and never forget her.

Services will be held September 30th at 10:00 AM at Mulkey-Mason funeral home in Lewisville Texas.
