Evelyn Plyler Carpenter passed away on March 21, 2022. Evelyn was born on November 28th, 1929, the daughter of William H. Plyler and Melita Cook Plyler. She grew up in Kershaw, South Carolina with her late brother Elliott. Evelyn graduated high school and then attended Mary Washington University before transferring to the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She enjoyed sorority life as a Pi Beta Phi, becoming chapter president.

After graduation, she became secretary to the president of Grice Business College. Her blind date with Keith Carpenter began well leading to engagement and then marriage in October 1952.  Daughter Gayle, son Elliott and daughter Jane completed the family, followed in 1993 by grandson Kevin.

Evelyn enjoyed being a housewife; not working until the youngest was busy with her own activities. Working as a part-time bookkeeper allowed her time for friends and social activities. Evelyn and Keith had a long and loving storybook marriage. Everyone who knew Evelyn commented on her sweet disposition, her sense of fun and a dazzling smile. Our angel has joined the other angels...
