Eugene Monroe Klein, 86, of Sanger, died at his home on May 1, 2017.
Mr. Klein was born on August 19, 1930 in San Diego, California to Chief Machinist's Mate John William Klein, Sr. and Anna Louise (Trietsch) Klein. He attended Denton public schools and graduated from North Texas State University.  He was married to Judy Lynn Waddle on August 27, 1966 at Blue Mound United Methodist Church, where they recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.
He was a member of the American Polled Hereford Association and enjoyed raising Polled Herefords for 66 years on his farm. In 1990, he retired from the University of North Texas after thirty-five years as a typesetter and proofreader in the print shop.
An avid and skilled craftsman of many different media, including woodworking, metalworking, construction, masonry, architectural design, agriculture, horticulture and aviculture, to name a few, he was continuously working on a never ending list of projects on and around the farm.  Working in his garden, however, was what he enjoyed most and where he was happiest.
He was a devoted and loving husband and father, and also an active and faithful member of Blue Mound United Methodist Church, where he had served as a Trustee, sat on various committees, and for the last decade or so, served as a greeter and ringer of the 100+year old church bell.
Monroe is survived by his wife, Judy and daughter, Miriam Klein, both of Sanger; son, Senior Chief Machinery Repairman (retired) Aaron Klein and wife Katie of Denton; brothers, John W. Klein, Jr. of Bakersfield, CA, George Klein of Denton, Dr. Garner Klein of Harlingen, TX; grandsons, Master-at-Arms Petty Officer Third Class Hunter Klein, currently deployed to Bahrain and Jacob Klein, also of Denton.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2017 at Blue Mound United Methodist Church, 8421 N. I-35 in Denton.  Rev. John Peel and Rev. Carroll Caddell will officiate the service.  Interment will follow at Blue Mound Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Aaron Klein, Jacob Klein, Gary Klein, Kevin Klein, John Smith and Todd Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be: John Klein, Jr., George Klein, Dr. Garner Klein, John Richardson, Weldon Burgoon, and Melvin Haisler.
