Obituary

Etna M. Roberson, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2018.

Etna was a long-time resident of Denton and a retired Denton elementary school teacher.  Etna's first teaching job was in Collinsville at the age of 19, where she filled a vacancy created by men leaving for duty in WWII. At the close of the war, she returned to finish her degree at North Texas where she met Fritz Roberson.  They married at Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Denton and became active members in that congregation.

After Retirement from her 33-year teaching career in 1980, Etna turned her energy to volunteering at Westgate Hospital and later at Denton Regional, where she achieved an astounding 20,000 hours of volunteer activity and many awards.  She performed so many duties she was given an office.  Since 2005, Etna resided at Good Samaritan Village. She continued her trend of giving back to her community by dedicating her artistic talents and hundreds of volunteer hours to activities there.

Etna was preceded in death by her husband Fritz D Roberson who died in 1985.  She is survived by son Don Roberson of Denton County, and daughter Lynne Gose of Aptos, California.  A memorial service will be held at 10:00a.m. Monday June 18, 2018 at The Good Samaritan Village Chapel, 2500 Hinkle, Denton, TX with a private family committal service at Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton.
