Emily Kate (meaning "blessed", and "pure") brought us the greatest joy imaginable when she was born on Monday, June 1, 2009. That night, she grasped her Daddy's finger, and continues to hold our hearts. Although she weighed only 3 lbs 7 oz, she was a big blessing in a tiny package that entered our lives in such a miraculous way.

The color of the clearest, bluest ocean, Emily's eyes revealed the depth of her sweet spirit. Her smile charmed many, as she instantly befriended and enchanted everyone she met. She carefully studied books, as well as the pictures displayed on her Daddy's camera. She often fell asleep to her Mommy singing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and "Jesus Loves Me".

Emily loved the color pink, her dolly and dragonfly, riding in her stroller, funny noises, kisses on her forehead, and being photographed and adored. She was fascinated by her mobile, often 'speaking' with her eyebrows that she wanted it turned on, then beaming as she carefully watched it go around and around. She was the most adorable snorkeler for Halloween, sporting a custom-made costume. Her smile lit up the room, showing her joy, despite her struggles.

Much like the hibiscus bloom, our little flower's beauty was astounding, and her life seemed too short. She will remain in our hearts and thoughts until we see her again in heaven.
