Elsie B. Wiley, 83, died on Thursday, December 29, 2016. Elsie led a diverse and full life. She grew up in Freedom, Oklahoma, with two brothers and four sisters. Her career included owning both a beauty salon and art gallery, working as a bookkeeper, and database and computer expert. Elsie worked at the University of North Texas as a field training coordinator for the Seniors and Volunteers for Childhood Immunization program, training many volunteers across Texas and other states.  Elsie loved to travel, taking many road trips with her beloved husband, Ken, throughout the continental United States. She also dedicated her time to several volunteer agencies, including the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Serving Denton County and Meals on Wheels, in addition to volunteering as a Sunday School teacher at the First United Methodist Church. Elsie will be remembered for her work ethic, strength, and ability to enjoy life. She was one of a kind.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Wiley. She is survived by a son, Robert Nelson, Jr., two step daughters, Lynn Wilson and Janet Bennett, grandchildren, relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 5 2017, at 10:00 AM, in the Cole Chapel at First United Methodist Church in Denton, Texas.
