Elmo Blount of Corinth Texas passed away February 19, 2026. Elmo was born in Stillwater Oklahoma August 8, 1932. While at Oklahoma A&M, later named Oklahoma State University, he met the love of his life, Darlene Shaver. After graduating with a BS in Mechanical Engineering he and Darlene married and began their life together. Elmo was defined by his focus on family and love of engineering. In 1965 Elmo went to work for Mobil Oil and they moved to Irving Texas with their five children.

During his time at Mobil, Elmo had numerous patents with the highlight of his career in 1978 when he developed the Dynamic Kill method for blow out control which at the time set a new standard. Many of his team from that time meet annually to reminisce about their adventures together at Mobil.

While Elmo’s job required a great amount of travel often exceeding a month at a time there was never a feeling that he wasn’t available. Darlene was a formidable force running the family and when Elmo was home he never missed a ball game, ballet recital or teacher conference.

For Elmo, Engineer wasn’t a job title, it was who he was. At 93 never stopped learning and was constantly reading and loved to design tiny houses to be built on his property in Mexia. His world was Darlene and his family of five children, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

He is survived by his bride of 71 years, Darlene, children Debbie Evers and her husband Dale, Erick Blount and his wife Lorna, Becky Prickett and her husband Braden and Chris Blount and his wife Sandi.

He is preceded in death by his parents Carlos and Esther Blount, his brother Doyne Blount and his son Dennis Blount.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Derek Evers, Reese Blount, Adron Blount, Henry Blount, Blake Blount, Allyssa Blount, Ryder Prickett, Ryan Prickett, Riley Prickett, Kirsten Jablonicki, Tanner Blount, Dylan Blount, Jake Blount and Jay Maddox.

Great-Grandchildren Amelia, Harper, Alanna, Maxtyn, Rhythm, Bleu, Lily, Avery, Casey, Logan, Val and Stella.

Special thanks to Kendall Jaynes who without her love and care, Elmo and Darlene would not have been able to remain in their home together.
