IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elma Jones
Walker
September 23, 1944 – October 18, 2024
Elma Elizabeth Jones Walker, age 80 passed peacefully in her sleep on October 18th, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's and is now with the Lord. She is survived by her Husband Bruce A. Walker, the love of her life of 58 years. Her beloved children a daughter Joya Christine Jacob (Husband Richard) and (granddaughter Emily); her oldest son Bruce A. Walker, Jr. (wife Jennifer) and (grandsons Adrian & Dillon). youngest son Aaron J. Walker (wife Mary Katherine).
Elma was born on September 23, 1944, the youngest of three daughters to Edgar and Eleanor Jones in Bloomfield, N.J. Her sisters Edith and Elaine along with her parents all preceded her in death. We know that she will now be united with them in heaven.
Elma always put family first, fully supporting her husband Bruce while in the US Marines and when employed with various Trucking Company's around the States, which included moving over 14 times. Her Children came first, and she was a fierce advocate for their education and well-being serving as teachers assistants and in the PTA. As the children got older and in school, she would work part-time jobs to save money for their college. Finally, after so many family moves, she got into Real Estate, which seemed like a natural for her after all the moves. She had a Real Estate License and Broker's License in N.C., S.C., and Texas before she started her own business as a Closing Specialist for all the Real Estate Agents handling their contract to close. She had a 97% closing rate while the industry standard was about 67% at that time.
Elma had a sense of community especially when we finally settled down in Denton Texas in 1995, our last move. Elma and Bruce were regular members of the Argyle United Methodist Church. She worked with Denton City Council to make sure they had the safest drilling ordinance, increased the homestead exemption to 50 thousand, and worked with others to pass the Senior property tax freeze.
Elma later in life when the children were grown, she would travel with Bruce when he was working at some of the cities and visit the local sights during the day. Bruce would always say that when he retired, he would have to go back there to visit. That is what happened when Bruce retired as Bruce and Elma would travel the West and visit some of the places he used to work at and visit all the Natural Parks in the west that exhibit the wonders of God in this world. Elma will be sorely missed by all that knew her and Loved her, but although she did not physically suffer, she was not who she wanted to be and we know that now that she is with the lord and her family and she is happy again. We all miss her!!!
AS THE SONG GOES, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN………………………….
