IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ellen
Venner
April 21, 1945 – July 29, 2025
Ellen (Helen) Venner, 80, of Garland, Texas, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. She was born on April 21, 1945, to John and Mary Dolan in Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland. At the age of 19 she came to the United States and resided in Bayonne, New Jersey. It was there she met her future husband, George Venner, and they went on to have four lovely children. The family moved to Texas in 1983, and soon after Helen became Circulation Supervisor at the Garland Daily News.
Helen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her Catholic faith and devotion to the Rosary guided her throughout her life. She set a wonderful example for her children with her deep faith, caring spirit, dedicated work ethic, and unique sense of style. Her kind gestures to those she knew and to strangers who needed a helping hand were countless. She enjoyed spending time with family, listening to Irish music, going to garage sales and thrift shops, and watching British comedies.
Helen joins her beloved husband George and her youngest daughter Bernadette Shires. She will be greatly missed by her children: daughter Mary Ann Venner and husband Sam Ivie, son George Venner and wife Natalie Venner, daughter Kathleen Fowler and husband Jason Fowler, and son-in-law Richard Shires. She has created beautiful memories with her granddaughters Kalei Venner, Kailani Venner, Madison Shires, McKinley Shires, and Nadia Fowler, and her grandsons Matthew Shires and Ethan Venner. She will be fondly remembered by her siblings Julia Cleary and Teresa Looney.
A celebration of life mass will take place at St. Mark Catholic Church in Argyle, Texas on Monday, August 11, at 10:00 am.
