Elizabeth Sharon Young, 71, died on June 15, 2022 in Decatur.  A long-time resident of Los Fresnos, a small town in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, she most recently resided at Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Bowie and had lived in Gainesville for 14 years prior to that.

Sharon was born the second of four children on March 11, 1951 to John M. and Mildred Young at Dolly Vinsant Hospital in San Benito, Texas. She graduated from Los Fresnos High School in 1968 and held a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from North Texas State University.  After teaching elementary school in the public-school system for several years she pursued her lifelong passion teaching private piano lessons to students in Brownsville and Los Fresnos. She also served as interim organist for the First United Methodist Churches in Brownsville and San Benito and enjoyed performing with ensembles and as a soloist in local venues from time to time.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mildred Young, of Los Fresnos, and grandparents, William Jesse and Lucy Hale of Winnsboro, and Church and Dosia Young of Avinger. She is survived by her siblings: Ann (Ben†) Finley of Sanger; John (Janie) Young of Gansevoort, NY; David (Mandy) of Franklin; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro.

The family would like to thank Solaris Hospice in Decatur and the many tireless providers in Bowie who saw to her needs in such a loving and professional manner always treating her with care and respect. Sharon was also blessed to have had several lifelong friends who consistently checked in on her with phone calls and visits. A special thank you to Cindy, Jan and Diane†.  Sharon loved you all dearly.
