Elisabeth McCullar Jamison, 86, of Denton, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Jamison was born March 20, 1923 in Denton to Fred Law and Bess (Browder) McCullar. She attended Denton Public Schools and received a B.A. and B.S. degree from Texas State College fro Women, Now Texas Women's University. She taught music and English in the public schools of Plainview and Hadley, Texas and later was an instructor in English at North Texas State College, Now the University of North Texas. Later she was employed as the Society Editor for the Denton Record Chronicle. She was married to Alonzo W. Jamison, Jr. of Denton in 1947. While her husband was a member of the Texas House of Representatives, she served one term as president of the Legislative Wives Club in Austin.

During the Kennedy-Johnson presidential campagn in 1960 she served as chair of arrangements for the Dallas-Fort Worth area's "Kennedy Ladies Tea." One of a series held across the country, this tea was at Cielo Ranch near Denton and was attended by members of the Kennedy and Johnson families. She served one term as a member of the Texas State Democratic Executive Committee.

She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Denton, where she served as a member of the Vestry and Senior Warden.

Following Cremation , a Memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 1200 N. Elm St. Denton, with Rev. Donald Johnson, officiating. Her ashes will be interred in the columbarium at St. Barnabas. Memorial's may be made to the Charity of your choice.

Mrs. Jamison is survived by her husband Alonzo W. Jamison, Jr. of Denton, a nephew, Frederick (Rick) Russell, of Dallas, a niece, Helen McCullar Brown, of Spring, TX; and a brother in law, Robert Howard, of Edmonds, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mary Howard, and Jessica Russell, two brothers, Frederick McCullar and
Frank McCullar, and a niece, Elizabeth Ann Barrett.
