Elizabeth (Lisa) Deering

Elizabeth (Lisa) Nicole Deering, age 60, passed away in her Denton home on September 10th, 2026. Born in San Francisco, California on June 21, 1966, where she grew up in Noe Valley, she moved briefly to Raleigh, North Carolina, and then to Denton, Texas in 1995. There she worked as a florist, grew a beautiful garden, volunteered with cub scouts, and raised a family. On June 18th, 2016 she married her best friend and love Shauna Grimes who was with her until her passing. In 2018 she was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, a disease that she fought hard against for over 8 years.

Lisa loved to cook great food and create all sorts of works of art. Her friends all knew of her fantastic cake decorating skills, she created beautiful balloon art, painted, and even in illness she was still crocheting. She was known as a lively conversationalist and never met a stranger she couldn't talk to for hours. Her garden was always full of vibrant flowers due to her masterful gardening skills. Over the years she traveled all over the country and even abroad visiting friends and family near and far.

She leaves behind her loving wife, Shauna Grimes; her children Michael Deering and his wife Katie, and Ryan Deering; grandchildren Calvin and Maureen Deering; and mother Elizabeth Grant.
Her cherished pets: Larkspur, Violet, and Luna.
