Mrs. Eleanor Wisener, 93, of Denton, TX, a sweet, spunky, free-spirited lady, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Creator on July 6, 2015; surrounded by her adoring family. She was born Eleanora Suzanne Hrubey on February 19, 1922, in Poprad-Vel'ka, Czechoslovakia, to Stefan and Maria (Wojtek) Hrubey. She immigrated to the United States in November 1923 with her sister, mother, and great-grandmother, following her father and uncle's immigration the previous year. She grew up in Cleveland, OH, with her sisters, Mary and Ruth, and her brother, Edward, and became a proud naturalized citizen of our great country in 1929. She graduated from John Adams High School in 1940 and went on to earn an Associates degree at the Spencerian College in 1941. She served as a stenographer in the US Navy from November 1941 to November 1946.
She married her husband, Earl Wisener, Sr., on August 20, 1949. They raised three children together, Earl Wisener, Jr., William Wisener, and Sandy Sage, in Hialeah, FL. She retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 30 years, moving to Denton, TX, where she and her husband joyfully spent their retirement years. Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Earl, Sr.; her oldest son, Earl, Jr.; her younger sister, Ruth Franz; her parents; many of her dear, lifelong friends; and several of her dogs, who she loved deeply.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Mecay, Kerrville, TX; a brother, Edward (JoAnne) Hrubey, Cleveland, OH; a daughter, Sandy Sage, Denton; a stepson, William Wisener; several grandchildren: Natasha (Marcus) Howard, Tishomingo, OK; Sandi (Russell) Sanders, Aubrey; Rhonda (Barry) King, Denton; Dawn (Jeff) Sendziak, Summerville, SC; Eric (Stephanie) Wisener, Aubrey; Shane (Kristine) Wisener, Keller; several great-grandchildren: Alex Howard, Tishomingo, OK; Jenni (Irving) Saucedo, Denton; Donnie Sanders, Aubrey; Chelsea (Chris) Powell, Sanger; Suzi (Robert) Robinson, Aubrey; Brandie (John) Hootsell, San Clemente, CA; James Sendziak, Kansas City, KS; Julia (Aaron) Douglas, Summerville, SC; John Sendziak, Summerville, SC; Courtney Grubbs, Denton; Brice Wisener, Denton; Destiny Wisener, Aubrey; JD and Tristin Wisener, Keller; a few great-great-grandchildren: Kaylynn Robinson; Jaylan Hill; and Ava Douglas; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; her two treasured pit bull pups, Ducky and Rio; and a great many friends who she considered family.
The family is holding a viewing of the body on Friday, July 10, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Denton from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, as well as a celebration of life on Sunday, July 12, at the family's home in Denton from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Elly wished for everyone to come together to share their favorite memories of her and celebrate her life with laughter to help ease the pain of grief during this difficult time.
