Obituary

Elba Mitchell Rutledge, 91, of Denton, Texas passed away peacefully with family at her bedside on December 10, 2016. Elba was born in Talihina, Oklahoma on November 20, 1925, she was the daughter of James Thomas and Martie Carter Mitchell. Elba came from a large family of 13 siblings and is survived by her brother, Jimmy Mitchell, of Meadford, Oregon and her sister, Doris Hilton, of Jackson, Missourri. And her wonderful niece, Sandra Garza and her family, of Pierre Parte, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Orbin E. Rutledge. Elba was a caring and loving mother of her two daughters, Donna Rutledge Lay, of Kingwood, Texas and, Patricia Dienst, of Lakin, Kansas; also her grandchildren that she loved and supported in whatever they did. They were her life; Wesley Lay and Griffin Lay of Kingwood, Texas, and Donae Dienst, and Diara Woods, of Dodge City, Kansas. And five great-grandchildren.

She was dedicated to her faith as a Christian.  She was a long time dedicated member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She enjoyed fellowship and friendship with her ladies in the Sewing Club, as they worked diligently on mission projects for the community.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home Chapel, 705 N. Locust in Denton, with graveside burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton, Texas. Visitation will be at 12:00, prior the service.
