Elaine P. Taylor, 98, of Denton, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Autumn Oaks Assisted Living in Corinth.
Mrs. Taylor was born on November 8, 1919 in Denton County to Joseph R. and Berva (Barr) Phillips. She was married to James F. Taylor on July 5, 1942 in Fort Smith, AR; he died on October 5, 1990. She earned her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Education from the University of North Texas. She retired from the Denton ISD after teaching for over twenty years as music teacher at Robert E. Lee. She was past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star; member of Opti-Mrs.; Ariel club; Shakespeare Club and various Bible study groups. She was a member of Gateway United Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Phil Taylor and his wife Jeanie of Paris, TX, Gary Taylor and his wife Jane of Arlington, Sharla Taylor of Dallas, Jo Taylor of Irving; grandchildren, Molly, Sherry, Jim and his wife Lori, Natalie and her husband Steve, Laura and her husband Matt, Dylan and her husband Jon; great-grandchildren, Jacky, Lindsey, Matthew, Brock, Hilliary and her husband Ryan, Caleb, Chaney, Tiffiny, Keirsyn and her fiancé Tyler, Sydney, Noah, and Archer; great great-grandchildren, Blake, Olivia, Anniston, Harper. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jo Phillips, Elsie Short, Maurine Phillips, Wayne Phillips, James Phillips and great-grandchildren, Colton and Casey. She was the most happy surrounded by her family.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the funeral time at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Gateway United Baptist Church, 2401 N. Bell Ave., Denton. Rev. Buddy Owens will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Cross Roads.
