Effie Lafaye Underwood,76, born December 8, 1937, to Albert and Gladys (Morter) Underwood in Eudora, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at her home in Corinth, Texas.
Effie was a lady of many talents and interests. As a busy mother of four boys, she had a successful swim school; that was promoted with her very own TV commercial. She later worked, for many years, in the import/export business; allowing her to travel all over the world.
Effie was very creative and loved doing arts and crafts. She had a "mean green thumb" and could do wonders with plants and gardens; inspiring her to create tasty, new dishes to share with everyone. She loved old westerns, sci-fi movies, helping others (no matter the circumstance or obstacle) and especially her family. Effie's wonderful sense of humor and loving nature will be greatly missed, by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her four sons; Duffie and wife, Susan Alexander, Michael and wife, Holly Alexander, Douglas and wife, Mary Alexander and David Alexander; 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother; Ernie Petty, 2 sisters; Gene Boyd and Trece Sullivan; Joy Haley, Esther Nance and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
