LIFE TRIBUTE FOR

EDWARD HARVEY STEINHAGEN JR

June 2, 1930 – April 16, 2022

Harvey Steinhagen Jr, a devoted family man and husband to his one and only Julia Brower Steinhagen (Julie), passed away at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in College Station Texas on Saturday, April 16, with his wife Julie, daughter Paula and her husband Gottfried Tiller, and son E. Harvey Steinhagen III present praying over him as he went to the Lord. A man of great work ethic and vitality, Harvey Jr made the most of every moment of his life, and never stopped building his dream for he and Julie's legacy in building their extraordinary home on the Golden Hoof Ranch in Washington County, Texas. Harvey uplifted those around him with his eternal optimism, a sincere handshake, and his ability to convey that every life in his eyes deserved respect and equal value.

Harvey was born in Beaumont Texas on the 2 nd day of June 1930 to Thelma and E. Harvey Steinhagen Sr; he attended Beaumont High School graduating in 1947, and thereafter attended the University of Texas at Austin earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Marketing, where he met Julie, the absolute love of his life.

Upon graduation from the University, Harvey returned to Beaumont to start his working career within the family owned Comet Rice Mills, and thereafter transitioned his career into the early development days of Steinhagen Oil Company, selling motor fuel products to his growing customer base, and building the Company's first service station on the corner of Park and Euclid in Beaumont, being the first step toward building the family's TEXACO distributing company.

On March 15, 1952, Julie and Harvey were united in marriage in Denton Texas and settled in Beaumont to start their family, and then, in September of 1952, Harvey was called-up to serve his Country in the United States Army, and was deployed into the Korean Military Conflict in the Kumwa Valley, where Harvey earned the Rank of Sergeant in the 955 th Field Artillery Battalion made-up of five 105 mm Howitzer Cannon's by-which set the high-powered battle ablaze, … and Harvey always remained faithful to our Veteran's and our Country.

Upon completing his Tour of Duty in 1954 receiving an Honorable Discharge, Harvey returned to Beaumont to join Julie and re-start his life's work as a Marketer of petroleum fuels and lubricants in Southeast Texas, where Harvey and brother Mark partnered in the Steinhagen Oil Company business. In 1971, Harvey involved the Company in the Texas Oil Jobbers Association (TOJA) in addition to serving his community as director of Gateway National Bank, Chairing the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, and he and Julie were active in the First Methodist Church.

Harvey will be remembered for his passion as a Petroleum Marketer, his love of hunting, fishing, and ranching in his later years, and most especially for his love of family and devotion to his beloved Julie, most notably known as his "Sweetie".  Later in life upon his retirement after he and Julie relocated to White Wing Lane in Houston, Harvey became a respected commercial real estate developer and known to be a get it done builder with no time to waste. But most importantly on top of the above, he was an adored father by his children, and a much-loved grandfather and great grandfather, and a close friend to many who will miss him dearly.

Harvey is survived by his wife Julie of 70-years in marriage… and daughter Paula Suzanne Tiller and her husband Gottfried Tiller of Katy Texas, and son E. Harvey Steinhagen III and his wife Monique Zummo Steinhagen of Beaumont Texas, his grandson Landon Ross Steinhagen and wife Abigail, his grandson Dane Winfield Steinhagen, his granddaughter Daniella Nicole Tiller Romero and her husband Raphael, his grandson Charles Eric Tiller and wife Lindsey, his grandson Trace Mikael Tiller, four      great grandchildren, and Harvey's brother Mark Steinhagen, sister Gretchen Hartzog, nephew Roy Steinhagen, and niece MaryJane Benning.

After departing Houston moving to their Ranch in Washington County, Harvey's German Heritage and Cow-Calf Ranching Legacy will live-on through Julie and the family patriarchs going forward.

Serving as Honorary Casket Bearers for Harvey's Graveside Service will be his grandsons, i.e., Landon Ross Steinhagen, Dane Winfield Steinhagen, Charles Eric Tiller and Trace Mikael Tiller, with Harvey's granddaughter Daniella Nicole Tiller Romero conducting a Reading at the Ceremony.
