Obituary

Edward Wayne Sallee, 71, of Valley View, Texas, peacefully left behind his earthly body to reside in Heaven on Saturday January 30th, 2021 at home while surrounded by family.  Eddie was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Eddie is survived by his wife Patsy. He is also survived by his son Jason Sallee and wife Monica, and son Jarrod Sallee and wife Amity.  He has two grandchildren; Shandril Sallee and Galen Sallee and wife Haley, three step-grandchildren; Addisyn, Landon, and Hannah, and two great-grandchildren Lily and Stephen Sallee.  Eddie is survived by two brothers Gary Sallee of Tyler, Texas and Gordon Sallee of Denton, Texas and his sister Diana Renfrow of Kerr, Texas as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, and extended family.  He is predeceased by his father Ellsworth D. and mother Marilyn Fitzgerald Sallee, and a brother Dana Sallee.

Eddie and Patsy raised their family in Aubrey, Texas.  Besides being a family man, Eddie was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and a fisherman.  He loved to share his love of the outdoors with anyone who wanted to learn.  He expressed this love through his volunteer work in Boy Scouts of American where he served as a Pack Master for Cub Scout Pack 337 and as a Scoutmaster for Scout Troop 337 in Aubrey. Through scouting he shared his love of the outdoors and of integrity and respect for themselves and others.  Many of his Scouts earned their Eagle Scout badge, the highest honor in Scouting, a reflection of his dedication to them.  For many, their first experiences outside of their hometown.

Eddie was an immensely practical and self-made man.  He took pride in his work and there was little he could not do on his own. Eddie was the kind of man that if he found himself unknowledgeable about something, he would do it anyway, and teach himself as he went how to do it better each time.  Eddie lived his life deeply and well, a working man who saved to provide his family with a wealth of experiences and travel so that they could experience the world, he always wanted better for them than he had for himself. His favorite place to travel was Colorado where you would likely find him on his birthday, seeking out hidden "trout holes" along a secluded river with ANYONE who wanted to fish with him.  He was employed by GTE/Verizon for 33+ years, starting at the bottom as a lineman and working his way into management in engineering and planning before retiring.

The family humbly requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation.  3634 West Market Street Ste. 110 Akron, Ohio 44333 (800)659-1991
