IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward William
Mickelson
March 6, 1941 – September 28, 2023
Edward William Mickelson was born in Maryville, Missouri on March 6, 1941 and left us on September 28, 2023, at the age of 82. He served his country in the Air Force from 1959-1963 before graduating with honors from the University of Minnesota. Ed married the love of his life Sandra Duncan on October 28, 1966, in Kansas City, Kansas. Ed and Sandy moved from Kansas to Minnesota and eventually settled in Southlake, Texas where they raised their three children. Ed began his career as a controller for Capital Gears and then transitioned into his passion which was residential and commercial construction. Ed left his commercial construction job and decided to work with his son, Mark, at Wyndham Custom Homes up until his very last day.
Ed was first and foremost faithful, he was also very smart, honest, hardworking and an extremely talented musician. Everyone enjoyed listening to Ed play the piano. Ed's most valued moment happened in 1987 when he accepted his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into his life. One thing that can be said for certain is Ed was definitely not lukewarm. He took his faith very seriously and lived what he believed.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mildred Mickelson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra Duncan Mickelson, three children, Steve Mickelson (Kristi) of Comanche, TX, Rachelle Mickelson LaFlamme (Steve) of Denton, TX and Mark Mickelson (Amy) of Highland Village, TX. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Timothy, Jackie (Bagshaw), Caleb, Jacob, Joshua, Jamie, Lindsey (Davis), Zechariah, Trevor, Taylor, Nicholas (LaFlamme), Brooke and Bryce Mickelson, Grace (LaFlamme), Sophie (LaFlamme) and 9 great-grandchildren.
To honor Ed's memory, we are holding a celebration of his life on Sunday, October 8th, 4:30pm at Freedom Church Denton, 420 E. McKinney Street, Denton, TX 76209.
